Day 4

Man! Today was certainly interesting. My dad is in town, so I had to get pretty creative with food. My hubs and dad love to eat out when he is here. AND, Thursdays are our date night, so we always eat out somewhere.

Breakfast was super easy. I had leftover frittata and my usual two morning bananas pre and post workout. I had leftover Mongolian Grill when I got a little hungry after that. Lunch and dinner became the challenging part.

My dad wanted to take us all out this afternoon. I decided to call ahead to a couple restaurants to see how I could be Whole 30 compliant. My dad absolutely loves Red Lobster, so I called there first. It seemed possible, but very limited options, and don't usually love their steak. (I know I know, there a seafood restaurant and all, what should i expect). I  assumed seafood wouldn't taste the best though without getting their seafood seasoned with butter or seasoning (could contain sugar), so I decided to try Outback instead. It is A LOT more paleo/whole 30 friendly.

We came to the restaurant and they very easily obliged my requests. I ordered a 10 oz. Ribeye Medium well, a baked sweet potato, and mixed veggies. I asked the server to omit all butter, oils and sugar. Since the server didn't know what was in their normal ribeye seasoning, I decided to get their 80/10/10 seasoning which was just salt, pepper, and garlic. Oh man!!!! IT. WAS. SO. BOMB!!! So delicious and flavorful. Very marbly....mmmm. I wish I could eat more right now! I had my whole sweet potato, veggies, and about half of the steak. I was stuffed! What's really neat is looking online at the total calories, it added up to be about 375! I don't think I have EVER gone to a restaurant and ate that little calories, enjoyed it so much, AND been that stuffed. Crae crae!

For dinner, I googled Whole 30 restaurant options and came across an article that gave some decent places. I chose Chipotle. 100% Whole 30 complaint. I had a salad with a double serving of carnitas and guac, as well as the mild and medium salsa. Sooo good! Total calories being around 880 calories, and I had between half to 3/4 of it. Not too shabby, considering the lack of snacking i've been doing.

A couple hours later, we headed off to a movie. Before we went in, we swung by Target and picked up some grapes, cantaloupe, and organic strawberries. I was super tired for some reason, so I decided to guzzle down 1 shot of espresso over ice from Starbucks. Of course I didn't eat nearly ALL of my goodies. That was be a TON  of fruit. For some strange reason, I wasn't THAT eager to wolf them down like i normally would, and they were really good.

I'm home now, and I am so surprised how easy it is going. I STILL haven't really been tempted, but I think it's because I really LOVE fruit, LOVE veggies, and LOVE succulent meat.

I have been feeling pretty good, other than being a little tired the last couple days. No withdrawal headaches or sugar demon chasing after me.

Perhaps I will have some tea and hit the hay??

Farewell for now!

Day 3

I am so excited! Day three almost done. It has been surprisingly easy. No sugar demon popping up to drag me down to it's lair. Usually the first days when trying to cut out sugar, I cave and eat a pint of ice cream with some dessert "snacks" ha! i haven't been tempted to cheat with anything else either.

Pre - workout I had my normal banana, but also had an apple afterwards. i was starving! When I got home, I had a frittata from the whole 30 book. I really liked it. Next time I'm going to throw in some kalamata olives. I've been wanting to munch on those recently. I'm not really that good at not letting things burn, so they got a little crispy on the top :-)

For lunch, I had left overs from last night's dinner. Then, I was still hungry so I had some chicken with cauliflower. The meat seemed really dry, so after I warmed up the cauflower and added some ghee, I stuck the cauliflower into my mini food processor along with some coconut milk and made cauliflower mashed potaotes! Totally transformed the drab chick and gave it some flair!

My dad is in town and so for dinner we all went out. The healthiest thing my hubs could think of was Mongolian Grill.  I was somewhat hesitant because I've made the meals there before without adding enough sauce, and it was almost flavorless, but this time I figured I can just add something approved later on and bring home the yummy combo of veggies and meat. It was actually quite tasty. I only added the garlic and ginger sauce, and also shook on some lemon pepper seasoning (which, I'm really hoping didn't have any sneaky additives to it).

Well, that's all for now! my eyes are giving way. Good night all!

I woke up this morning excited to go for my morning run! i felt energetic and ready for the day. i I had a banana and then hit the pavement. For breakfast I had three eggs and some avocado. Pretty simple and easy.

I had to get a few groceries so I stopped into Target. I was excited to try out a frappucino from Starbucks with just espresso and coconut milk. I went to try it and realized that it tasted somewhat sweet. I could have swarn she added sugar but she assured me it was just the coconut milk. Later I found out that there was sugar in it! I was so disappointed. Immediaetely I threw the frapp away. Well, that was a bust! ug. Now, TECHNICALLY i need to start over again, but, I won't be introducing sugar back into my diet until after at least 32 whole days, since you gradually add things back in, and sugar isn't until several days later, so, I might choose to keep going forward. I came home and made my own frap. Yep. Not nearly as good. AHA. AHA.

I was super busy today with running, dentist appointment, errand running, cleaning, caring for baby girl, making dinner, than lastly I did three clients (I'm a hairstlyst, don't get any crazy ideas here) so all in all I really didn't even have time to be tempted with any naughty no no foods!!! YAY!!!

Lunch was taco salad. The hubs is a lucky ducky because his got to include greek yogurt
(which tastes mostly like sour cream to me), cheddar cheese, and pasta sauce. Eh, mine was ok...I subbed the pasta sauce (which would have been Whole 30 approved if not for the darn added sugar!!!) with some tomato paste, and it wasn't too dry. We both had it with roaming lettuce, ground beef, onion, spices, and...somehthing else I'm missing???

For dinner I made a recipe in the Whole 30 Book. Something by the name of Chicken and Sweet Potato hash?? Well, anyway, here it is:

After I finished up working, I treated myself to some more watermelon and will probably finish of the day with some Sweet and Spicy Tea from Good Earth. I SO can't believe this tea doesn't have added sugar. They MUST have added it somewhere. It is WAY too good to be on the approved list. Hmm. I'll keep looking for any sneaky unwritten hidden away ingredients. BUT, until I find any, I'll sip on!

G'night y'all. Read your bible and go to bed now. 👍🏻

Whole 30 - Day 1

Today was my first day of doing Whole 30! I thought I was going to die on this diet, but today I did really well and wasn't tempted at all.

The hardest part was going to Starbucks and having to pass up my super sweet espresso with heavy whipping cream and 5-6 pumps of classic syrup (yum!). That has been what I've been getting and it is oh so heavenly! Coffee seems to be the gateway drug to other sweet things. If I can wrangle coffee, I can do anything!!

I had two bananas in the morning (one each for pre/post workout). Then, I made myself three eggs and some baked red potatoes slathered in coconut oil, rosemary, salt, pepper, and garlic powder).

For lunch, I had a chicken salad with tomatoes, avocado, carrot shreds, lettuce, and onion. Pretty tasty.

Dinner was sooo good! Top sirloin steak with so tasty seasonings along side cauliflower drizzled in clarified butta. Mmmmm. Me's a happy girl 😁
After dinner, I sliced open a super sweet watermelon. That was good. Then to top off the evening, I made myself some chamomile lavender tea. If I do say so mahself, today was a success!
